This is a Atlanta-based 23 year old student who had her original rhinoplasty overseas. Her original surgery involved placing a silicone implant. It subsequently became infected and was removed by another surgeon. Unfortunately, after removal of the silicone implant, she developed scar tissue which caused her nose to retract upward and significantly shorten. This scarring also caused her left nostril to retract and "pucker" inward. Wanting to address her concerns, she traveled to the Augusta and Evans, GA area to see facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Achih H. Chen. Dr. Chen performed her revision rhinoplasty using a combination of rib graft and ear cartilage. He used rib cartlage to lengthen the septum so that the nose could be rotated downward. He also used rib on her bridge to create more height and length. An ear composite graft, which consists of skin and cartilage grafted together, was used to address the "puckering" of her left nostril/nasal tip area. As this was an out-of-town patient, travel for subsequent follow up photographs were difficult, as a result, the after photos are taken at only 8 days following her revision rhinoplasty by Dr. Achih H. Chen.
