Case Details

Surgeon: Achih H. Chen, MD, FACS

This is a 67 year old woman who had previously undergone a rhinoplasty (nose job) by another surgeon. Following her first rhinoplasty, she felt that her bridge was too low, giving her a "scooped out" appearance. Also, when she felt her bridge, there was a flat bony spot that had resulted from her previous surgery. This flat spot, in medical terms is called an open roof deformity and can result when a hump on the bridge of the nose is removed, but the remaining portion of the nasal bones are not folded inward to close the "open roof". A good analogy for the "open roof" is if the peak of the roof on a house is removed, the result is an open roof. This "open roof" can be closed by pushing the remaining portions of the together, closing the gap. To address her concerns, Augusta and Evans, GA based Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Achih H. Chen performed her revision rhinoplasty at the Georgia Center, also serving Aiken and Columbia, SC.
